Filling your spiritual cup

FillingYourSpiritualCup

In the years of my borderline atheism I did not believe in the existence of your “spiritual cup”  I didn’t really believe there was anyone  there to fill that cup up with anything so how could there even be a cup?  It’s been over six years since the night I found out there was someone there and that there certainly was such a thing as a spiritual cup.  It absolutely DOES exist. Zach…..Fed Up with his addictions

VaBeachPier

I’ve come to believe that there are no coincidences in life.  People are brought into our lives for a specific reason.  It’s all preordained in my honest opinion.  When I was given the idea of The Micah Principle I was told that it means “Though I fall I will rise again”, meaning simply that we all fall down in life but that we MUST get back up. I was told that the purpose of it was to gather stories from people who have done just that and to publish them here.  The end result of it would be to inspire others and give them hope….to help them understand that if someone else overcame an obstacle or tragedy in their life that they can, too.

Zach’s story is the first one to be shared after my story.   I met Zach after seeing a video of him on the Facebook page for a local church Continue reading

I can see clearly now

ICanSeeClearlyNow

Back in the early 1970’s there was a song written and recorded by Johnny Nash called “I Can See Clearly Now”.  It’s a catchy little song with happy lyrics.  I’d sing along with it every time it came on the radio.  Even though I knew every word by heart I never really listened to the song.  I just sang the words on auto-pilot.   Continue reading

If you don’t try you’ve already failed

IfYouDon'tTry

There’s a quote by Joseph Campbell that says “The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.”  I love this quote because it’s so spot on the truth about what fear is.  Fear literally keeps us from all the good things in our life if we allow it.  We fear failure.  We fear rejection.  We fear being told no.  We fear being shunned, ridiculed or laughed at.  We even fear fear itself.  Fear can keep us in a stranglehold if we let it. Creating your own miracle

Creating your own miracle

I remember reading a story years ago about someone who had played Santa and gave gifts out to some underprivileged yet very deserving children.  I can’t remember all the details of the story but there were not enough presents in the big bag for all the children that were there anxiously awaiting a gift.  The person who was playing Santa knew there were a very limited number of gifts in the bag and that some of the children would receive nothing.  After the last gift was taken out of the bag there were still children waiting.  “Santa” knew when he reached in the bag again it would be empty.   Continue reading

Faith cannot be repossessed

Faithcannotberepossessed

Faith is defined in the dictionary as a strong belief or trust in someone or something.  It also means having a firm belief in something for which there is no proof. Faith is not something you can see.  You can’t touch it or hear it.  You can’t hold it in your hand and you can’t capture it and save it in a jar.  Faith is not tangible.  Faith is instead something that is felt inside you. The darkness before dawn

Darknessbeforedawn

There’s an old saying that goes like this; “It’s always darkest before the dawn”.   That saying can mean different things to different people. You may take it literally as in it’s really darkest just before dawn breaks.  While that may or may not be true what most people take it to mean is that it always gets worse before it gets better. You will see the darkest hours of your life right before the light breaks through, bringing with it relief from what is troubling you. Continue reading

Patience is a virtue

Patiencevirtue

Patience.  That word was the bane of my existence for many, many years.  Why? Because I had NONE.  I was so far in the negative for patience it wasn’t even funny. I used to say that when they were handing out patience I didn’t even get in that line.  I stood in other lines repeatedly, like the impatience line and the negative line (I kept getting back in line for this one–I have no idea why).  I felt like I stood in all the wrong lines.   Continue reading

For when I am weak, then I am strong

ForWhenIAmWeak

Have you ever met someone and knew right away that you were going to be good friends?  I’ve had that happen only a few times in my life. When we bought our first house years ago the first neighbor to ring the doorbell and welcome us was one of those people.  We’re still good friends today and I just love and adore everything about her.  She has brought so much good to my life and I am so thankful and grateful for her.  She’s the one who helped me the most on my spiritual journey, even though she didn’t know it till much later.   Continue reading

In the beginning there were just three words

InTheBeginningThereWereJustThreeWords

The Book of Genesis in the Bible is about the beginning of all creation.  It’s the story of how God created something that didn’t exist before.  I believe that came about because He had an idea and wanted to create something and give it life.   He had a desire to build something from nothing and bring it into greatness. While I’m no expert I don’t think there was anyone else around to deter Him from bringing His vision into the light.   He decided He wanted to do something…..and He did it. Continue reading
