Stepping out of your comfort zone

We all have that safe place in our lives known as our comfort zone.  That’s the place we know that we have control.  We’re in charge while we’re in our safe place. That small box known as our comfort zone is actually very confining and if we never venture out of it then we will never grow as we were meant to.   Continue reading

Thankful and grateful, I am

The month of November usually brings a rush of thankful feelings to most people. I guess it’s Thanksgiving that’s behind those feelings.  It’s wonderful and great that we do give our thanks on this holiday but really, we should be giving our thanks all year long instead of on just one day in late November.   Continue reading

For when I am weak, then I am strong

Have you ever met someone and knew right away that you were going to be good friends?  I’ve had that happen only a few times in my life. When we bought our first house years ago the first neighbor to ring the doorbell and welcome us was one of those people.  We’re still good friends today and I just love and adore everything about her.  She has brought so much good to my life and I am so thankful and grateful for her.  She’s the one who helped me the most on my spiritual journey, even though she didn’t know it till much later.   Continue reading

In the beginning there were just three words

The Book of Genesis in the Bible is about the beginning of all creation.  It’s the story of how God created something that didn’t exist before.  I believe that came about because He had an idea and wanted to create something and give it life.   He had a desire to build something from nothing and bring it into greatness. While I’m no expert I don’t think there was anyone else around to deter Him from bringing His vision into the light.   He decided He wanted to do something…..and He did it. Continue reading

Are you a George or a Clarence, or both?

My very favorite movie in the whole world is “It’s A Wonderful Life”.   It came out in 1946 and starred James Stewart and Donna Reed as George and Mary Bailey from Bedford Falls,  a small midwestern town.  In the movie George is the long-suffering older son in the family who longs to escape the confinement of the small town he was raised in.  He feels suffocated by it and wants to get out and see the world and has no plans to return once he leaves.  George’s best laid out plans to leave Bedford Falls are derailed time after time. No, you do not have my permission to make me feel inferior

Have you ever heard the quote “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent“?  It’s a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, who was married to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.  I looked up a lot of her quotes and some were very fitting, even in our modern times.  From what I read it seems like Eleanor was full of wisdom.  Her husband was elected president in 1933 and served three terms.  Back in those days women were still expected to smile sweetly and keep their opinions to themselves.  How wonderful is it though that this great woman DID speak her mind?  She was a trendsetter for sure. Inspired thought comes at the strangest times

The Micah Principle Logo

The past several years have brought some startling changes to my life.  Some of those changes were unwelcome at first only to become welcome ones after the fact. Everything in life is a learning process.  This year has brought about some very welcome changes for me personally.  Historically, I had always been a very negative person.  The glass was never half empty for me; it was nearly dry and there was no more to refill it. Continue reading
